Washington, D.C. - Today Sustain Our Future Foundation (SOFF) announced the appointment of Juan Jhong-Chung (pronounced “Hong-Chung”) as its Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Juan will help advance SOFF’s strategic priorities, and support the development of approaches that ensure communities meaningfully shape and benefit from sustainability infrastructure.
Juan brings extensive experience at the intersection of environmental justice, clean energy, technology, and community engagement. Most recently, he led Wayne Forward, a technical assistance program supporting 43 local governments across Wayne County, Michigan, on climate resilience, clean energy, infrastructure, and economic development. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition, leading policy advocacy, grassroots organizing, and coalition building. He also co-chaired the Climate Justice Alliance’s national Policy Working Group, helping shape federal policy priorities informed by frontline communities, and was invited to the White House Summit on Environmental Justice in Action in 2024.
