Sustain Our Future Foundation (SOFF) announces the launch of the Regenerative Communities Maryland Project, made possible through a $2 million dollar 2024 Maryland Energy Administration’s Energy Efficiency Equity Award. In collaboration with Lumeco Energy, this initiative will provide whole-home electrification and weatherization services to 133 households with high energy burdens and limited access to efficient heating and cooling solutions. Additionally, the project will offer vital workforce development opportunities for students from Maryland’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), widening access to the field of sustainability.

Acadia Infrastructure Capital Launches Climate and Communities Investment Coalition with Microsoft. Coalition’s Innovative Framework Aims to Boost Clean Energy Investment and Environmental Justice
Acadia Infrastructure Capital, a specialized clean energy investment platform, today announced the launch of the Climate and Communities Investment Coalition (CCIC), with Microsoft as an anchor member.
The mission of the CCIC is to help corporations support clean energy projects that provide community benefits in the United States. The CCIC is projected to facilitate the construction of at least 5 GW of renewable energy projects over 5 years. Collectively, these projects will help prevent approximately 15 billion pounds of carbon from entering the atmosphere per year and generate enough energy to power over 850,000 homes.

Sustain Our Future Foundation seeks a dynamic, strategic, creative, with a strong commitment to social equity and environmental justice, to serve as a Project Manager for the Foundation. The individual will have the experience, skills, and analysis necessary to support the implementation of the Foundation’s programmatic initiatives.
The Project Manager will lead the Regenerative Communities Project (RCP), which mobilizes resources for hyperlocal sustainable infrastructure development to ensure development aligns with sovereignty, agency, and community self-determination. Rather than create infrastructures that continue perpetuating systems of extraction and exploitation, the RCP centers community engagement and decision-making to create truly sustainable infrastructure.
Matrix Renewables Secures Commitments From Microsoft and MUFG-Led Lender Consortium For 210MWAC Solar Project in Bell County, Texas
Matrix Renewables, the TPG Rise-backed global renewable energy platform, today announced that it has secured financing for the 210MWac Stillhouse Solar project. Acadia Infrastructure sourced preferred equity and separately facilitated Microsoft’s purchase of environmental attribute certificates. In addition, MUFG, HSBC, ING and BBVA provided US $376 million debt financing.
The Stillhouse project, located in Bell County, Texas, is a solar PV plant with a total nameplate capacity of 210MWac and includes a 15-year power purchase agreement with affiliates of Hyundai. In addition, the project has partnered with Sustain Our Future Foundation, contributing nearly $3 million to support community benefits through its community engagement program. Stillhouse Solar will provide clean power to the equivalent of 48,862 homes, deliver grid resiliency, avoid 185,598 metric tons of CO2 equivalent each year, and deliver meaningful community benefits. Construction is progressing with a scheduled commercial operation date in Q3 2025.

Sustain Our Future Foundation (SOFF), a national nonprofit organization, announces grant awards to the inaugural cohort of Reparative Land Collective grantee partners. This collective of Black, Indigenous, Brown, and other land stewards of color are dedicated to implementing ecosystem restoration strategies.
As part of the inaugural awardees, 12 organizations from across the nation were nominated to join this growing community of land healers. Through the Reparative Land Collective, grantee organizations will have access to technical assistance in the form of legal advising, land assessment, permitting, and infrastructure planning, in addition to the capital grants they receive.

Leading national renewable energy provider Pivot Energy, announced today a 5-year framework agreement with Microsoft to develop up to 500 megawatts (MWac) of community-scale solar energy projects across the United States between 2025 and 2029. This significant, impact-driven collaboration supports both Pivot’s and Microsoft’s commitment to maximize the environmental and social benefits of the renewable energy transition at the local level.
